  • The Categorical Imperative

Emmanuel, I agree with your response and I think you highlight a good point when you say people should act based on their morals not because of purely sympathy to society. Sympathy plays a big role also but I believe we should follow our nature and our values when making these decisions because like you said we don’t want to find ourselves pressured by maintaining a public figure, that will end up changing the pure essence of oneself. if this were to happen we would have to question the true intentions of actions pressured by society and we expect to get in return.

  • Utilitarian

Brianna, I really liked how you explained to the bloggers what Utilitarianism consist of. It helps us understand more your content if we have more information on it. The concept of selfishness contrasts with utilitarianism and shows how different these two concepts are. Selfishness is looking our for our own self and making decisions to justify benefits for ourselves and no one else, often leading to arrogance. Focusing on one self is important but not at extremes like it is selfishness. On the other hand, we have utilitarianism who looks for the greater good sacrificing minorities for the sake of great majorities.

  • Smoke Signals

Anthony, The way you approach this topic is quite interesting, you present a valid point when you say utility friendship can possibly evolve to a deeper level turning into virtue friendship, I think we have to be open to the possibility that in these type of friendships the factor or event need isn’t always present. Some circumstances occur in a very unexpected way. In order for us to grow in all aspects there are a series of things we have to go through and certain number of people who have to cross one’s life at some point. These events will determine the connection between individuals and unfortunately in some cases virtue friendship wont be present, same with utility or pleasure.

  • Should organ sales be legal?

Aldo, I agree with you that organs sale should not be legalized because at the end of the day, chaos will still remain. Organ sales might also lead to decadence as people in charge of this practice are taking resources for granted and the there will be a constant need for them to obtain organs regardless of what it takes to do it. I personally believe that even though many people who want to do good and save others life if they can, will actually volunteered for this procedures. However, this will create window into abyss and like you mentioned previously they are saving lives in a horrible way because for the most part, the amount of people with medical conditions will increase, therefore contributing to a high increase in deceased people.

  • The Defense of Ethic Relativism

Layla, Thanks for sharing your opinion on Ethical relativism. This is a difficult topic to cover which leads to a number of debates where bias are more likely to take place. I agree with you that we are constantly receiving information and the more we receive a certain type of information we are more likely to agree with it and perceive its accuracy because that is what we have been taught to us since early ages. This is the reason why I consider the environmental factor to be of great influence.

  • The Utilitarian Case of Open Boarders

Carlo, You touch valid arguments that support the idea of open boarders. I also believe it would be better if people were free to chose where they want to establish themselves. This creates a huge gap of opportunities not only for them but for their countries as well not to mention that many social problems like discrimination would start to vanish and being replaced by acceptance. Of course there will still by other potential factors leading to some issues in society but it would be more beneficial for the public. you mention an imbalance in the economy due to several factors, migration being the main one and I see how that can impact a countries economy because some of the resources wouldn’t be as expensive and other potential investors can decide to invest somewhere else because it will prove for them a better investment.

  • “The pursuit of Happiness”

Jollen, First I have to say I think it is very creative he way you present your responses to the prompts.I think you have some interesting opinions. Mill does consider that once individuals reach a certain point, it is merely impossible to turn back. Like you I believe that no matter how many mistakes someone masques they will always have a choice on whether continue their lies or changing for good seeking higher pleasures to be happy in life but I think that what Mill fears is that once a person experiences a significantly high pleasure they will be delighted and stuck in this cycle even if there is the possibility of potential risks and collateral damage along the way.

  • The Ethicist

Kermen, I totally understand your point of vie and the most important thing to do is maintain a balance in society by following the social distancing protocols. Though, a great number of the population does not believe or show enough interest in following this protocol and taking measures to be safe and healthy. we are all at risk but one can lower the chances of contracting the virus by following safety measures. Sadly there is a lot of ignorance in society and it may or may not be a product of a biologic war created my the people who run society but it wont affect to be cautious and take the right measures. I strongly agree with you and mills on this subject because when you put yourself at risk you are also putting your loved ones and people around you at risk. Therefore, you will carry with not only your responsibility of keeping your self safe but also their responsibility.

  • Injustice

Graham, Thanks for sharing your story and I see your point on this. You thought it was a little unfair that she didn’t tell you about your best friend’s party because you were the only one invited and not your brother. I think your mother was traying to avoid your brother from feeling bad because he was not invited so the best option she found was not to tell you. I also understand her point of view though because as a mother she wanted both of you to be happy. For her that was the best decision but again we would have to define what is morally right or wrong for each invididual. Because the way I see it is that what you considered wrong, she considered right.

  • Feminist Challenge

Shivam, I enjoyed reading your response it is descriptive and clear. You present a good point which I think is valid when you mention that society has become desesitize in a way that society is slowly eliminatinating etiquete, good manners, good habits /behaviors and respect overall. I have observed many examples of this many times and it is quite concerning because we are leaving behind our legacy for something volatile. At least in my opinion I believe that society is supposed to show imporvements and growth in different aspects and at this pace it seems like we are going down instead of going up.

  • The Noble Eightfold Path

Realino, I liked your response it is very concise and covers a great majority of topics related to The Noble Eightfold Path. When i was reading this article i found many interesting things that could easily adjust to ones life and it make total sense. Buddhism is onlyone of the many religions in the world and each religion has their own views and alittle bit of truth for thosee who seek their own paths. I share your opinion on avoiding negativity and sticking to ones integrity. I believe that and individual can do anything he sets his mind to its just a matter of self discipline and mind control. This is extremely hard for some but tottally woth it. Once you learn to master your own mind anything is possible.

  • “Ethics for a feminist”

Lucca, thanks for sharing such an interesting and reflective perspective in your blog. Thanks for pointing us out that this concept refers to an unbiased perspective and that we need to have an open mind to understand it. In your response you seem to diagree with the fact that we have to be impartial and treat other woman like we treat our moms and not only I agree with you but also think that we should be able to be impartial at a certain degree and still preserve that special connection between mother and child because I don’t think we will see other woman the way we see our mothers. Nothing really compares to that.
